I don't believe that anyone has yet mentioned the organization and
website, WOMEN MAKE MOVIES:
http://www.wmm.com/

The group has an extensive (and nicely produced) catalogue and a long
list of women filmmakers, especially indies and foreign films.  There is
also a nice Links page.
