Gunvor Nelson and the Avant-Garde

Karlstad, Sweden 30-31 August, 2002.

In cooperation with the Regional Film Center (Film i Varmland),
the University of Karlstad is hosting the first international conference
dedicated to the films of Gunvor Nelson, one
of the most central figures emerging from the Bay area in the 60's.
The conference is a two-day event, including a retrospective of Gunvor
Nelson's films and a series of talks with the aim of covering both her
films and her historical and contemporary contexts. Among the speakers are
well-known filmmakers, curators and academics: Steve Anker, Paul Arthur,
Pip Chodorov, Malcolm Le Grice, Henrik Orrje, Astrid Söderbergh-Widding.
