City University of Hong Kong is a young and dynamic institution directly

through the University Grants Committee (Hong Kong). Its strategic plan is
an ambitious one, reflecting its aspirations to become one of the leading
universities in the Asia-Pacific region by achieving excellence in teaching
and research. The student population for 2001-2002 is approximately 18,500
(11,800 full-time and 6,700 part-time). The medium of instruction is English.

School of Creative Media
The School of Creative Media has several openings in the areas of digital
media and computer animation. SCM offers an exciting multidisciplinary
research and teaching environment in which technical and creative faculty
cooperate on a variety of projects. The School was founded in 1998, and
since then has developed strengths in Asian cinema, media studies, video
production, photography and computer graphics. Our current priority is to
expand and consolidate the digital media emphasis of the School, including
video production (primarily narrative and experimental, with an eye towards
new media applications), digital sound, computer graphics, computer
animation, multimedia and interaction.

The School offers taught undergraduate (AA, BA) and postgraduate (MFA)
programmes as well as research degrees (MPhil and PhD). The School has six
impressively equipped computer laboratories for teaching and research, plus
a TV studio, a screening room, sound recording and mixing facilities, and
an Avid-based NLE lab. Research facilities include a number of SGI
workstations, including an Oynx3, an immersive display system, a rendering
farm, and several 3D input devices.

Positions are mainly available at the Assistant/Associate Professor level,
but an appointment at the rank of Professor may be made in the case of an
exceptional candidate. Candidates should have a recognized terminal degree
in their field with an interest in both the technical and creative sides of
modern media. A PhD in computer science or electrical engineering with a
media background, or an MFA with a strong technical background are both
acceptable. Industrial experience is an asset. For senior appointment,
candidates are expected to have established research and teaching records.
