What about the first German film that was produced after the WWII? The
titles is The Murderers Are Among Us (Director: Wolfgang Staudte)

There is also the series of East German banned films made in the middle of
the 60s Trace of Stones, Carla, Born 45...

Or the only Oscar nominated East German movie Jacob the Liar (1974)...
