Call for Papers: Contemporary Landscape of the Film Exhibition Industry
(1980-Present)& Forecasts Regarding the Next One Hundred Years

This call for papers is for a collection of essays exploring the recent
developments within the film exhibition industry. Since most major changes
have typically been initiated in metropolitan areas, the example of the
Uptown Theatre in the Uptown community of Chicago will serve as an excellent
case study. The community, the theatre and the ongoing controversy
surrounding its renovation (or demise) represent the crossroads of early
movie-going standards and of contemporary movie-going trends.
The industry's next hundred years should be very interesting; in fact, many
question whether it can withstand another hundred years. What are your
forecasts and what can the industry do to keep its head above water and its
numbers "in the black?" Please feel free to suggest deviations or
elaborations. Tangentially relevant material will also be considered.
