Dear Sam: I think what your student is looking for is a video called
"Eye of the Storm," which was an ABC documentary circa 1970 on teacher
Jane Elliott's experiment with her elementary class (the brown eyes,
blue eyes bit). There was a followup approx. 15-20 years later called
"Frontline: A Class Divided" (PBS video), which updated the story,
including interviews with some from the class (now grown), as well as
how Elliott was doing consulting work. I'm not sure of the dates, but I
am of the titles--I've used them in class, as well as Jane Elliott came
to speak at CMSU a few years ago. Hope this is what your student is
thinking about.

I have a graduate student interested in tracking down a film he
believes
dates from the late 60s titled, as he remembers it, "Brown Eyes, Blue
Eyes"
(or perhaps vice versa). Apparently the film documents a strange
sociological experiment in an elementary school class in which
children
with blue eyes were separated from children without them and told they
had
intellectual abilities superior to other students in the class.

Does anyone know anything about this film (I don't), and if it is
available
on video? Many thanks in advance.
