THE PRESIDENCY IN FILM AND TV
(Official deadline is Friday, but will
keep door wedged open until Monday,
            18 September...)

    http://h-net.msu.edu/~filmhis

With West Wing winding up for a wild
premiere, we remind our Film & History
friends of the following date:

September 15th is the official deadline for abstracts
for talks, papers, presentations, screenings
at our November 10-12 conference just
45 mins by van from the LAX. This date is
written in political stone--and therefore malleable.

The Ronald Reagan Library is nearby and
a special VIP tour is planned for all--a great
chance to see the internals of a Presidential
library and its research potentials. Some of our
registrants are attending for this opportunity alone.

Filmmakers, scholars, and credit-earning
students will be on board from 0800 on
Friday until 1200 on Sunday. We will even
use the in-house video system to screen
selected presidential films during the
weekend. Watch key documentaries in
your room and then meet the filmmakers
in the hallways!

Some may wish to attend for immersion, but
the door is open until Monday, 18 September,
for those who wish to present a paper.

Our meeting will take place just after the
Presidential election; it could not be more
timely! And impersonators of George Washington
(often referred to as "George W") and Abraham Lincoln
will talk with you about the state of the nation.

West Wing enthusiasts are welcome!! We have
multiple panels planned on the series, but the
meeting is broader in perspective: we going back
to Washington and Jefferson and
then up the chronological ladder to our current
controversy over "subliminal advertising."

See Film & History web site for details. You
have until SEPTEMBER 18th to contact us....
