Two new papers from last year's infog99 - a conference on the latest digital
developments in screen culture and research, have just been published on the
AFI website:

They are:

"From the vaults to the world - archival moving images in digital domains"
by Dr Steve Ricci, Head of Research & Study, UCLA Film & Television Archive
and keynote speaker at infog99
(http://www.afi.org.au/randi/infog99/ricci.html)

Steve's paper covers the activities of the UCLA Film & Television Archive,
with particular focus on the use of digital technologies for improving
access and the principal goals and problems pertinent to any new media
initiative.

Transcript of the Copyright Hypothetical
Panellists: Adrian Miles, Lecturer in Cinema Studies at RMIT University,
Helen Simondson, Project Manager, Performing Arts Multimedia Library Pilot
Project, Jamie Wodetzki, lawyer and expert in Copyright Law, Sue Mslin, film
producer, and Dr Tom O'Regan, Director, Australian Key Centre for Cultural
and Media Policy (Moderator)

This panel session was the most popular session at infog99, a lively
discussion covering all the legal and moral ramifications of reusing
existing film footage for new purposes - CD-ROMs, websites, student web
essays, etc. - in either an educational or commercial context.
