Regarding showing rented or purchased videos in the classroom (in response
to David Lee's question):  Under the educational-use exemption of the
copyright law, a teacher may show rented or purchased videos in the
classroom.  Some stipulations exist including not distributing the show over
a network of televisions.  However, in general, if the teacher is present
and the showing is part of the classroom teaching, then the screening is
permissible.  No fees beyond the rental or purchase price must be paid; even
if the video is no longer commercially available, if it was purchased
legally (and not a dub of a legal copy), it can be show.
