>For ongoing research into a piece on monster films, does anyone recall

Check http://members.tripod.com/~toonup/kong.htm.

>I continue to look for people to talk to who are knowledgeable in the monster
>line, not books but scholars -- including anyone knowledgeable about GODZILLA
>series, Universal Gothic, Abbott and Costello in re their monstrous movies
>encountering Dracula et al.

These areas are all extremely well documented but depending on what
information you need: David Kalat (of All Day Entertainment, the uber-hip
people doing Ulmer and Mabuse DVDs) wrote a very thorough book on Godzilla;
Tom Weaver, who's done numerous interview books on all sorts of 40s/50s B
horror/sf as well as commentary for the Universal horror DVDs; Tim Lucas of
Video Watchdog; Glenn Erickson of DVD Savant; David Skal; etc.
