There are a couple of examples in Eastern Europe.
Serbian actor Velimir Bata Zivojinovic was (is?) elected MP as a member
of Milosevic's Socialist Party.
Croatian director (former actor) Antun Vrdoljak has had several
political jobs as a member of Tudjman's HDZ party - MP, chairman of the
Croatian Olympic Comitee, etc.
(Czecho)slovakian actress Magda Vasáryová was ambassador of
Czechoslovakia in Austria, and after the split of the country, she has
been politically active in Slovakia - among other things she was a
presidental candidate in the last year's elections.
