Living in Oblivion (1995), directed by Tom Di Cillo and starring
Steve Buscemi as an independent filmmaker trying to get his troubled
feature finished, has a complex dream structure that rivals those in
some of Bunuel's better known titles.

Dreams also figure prominently in many Hollywood theatrical cartoon
shorts. For a discussion of a very specific use of dreams in
animated films, may I recommend my own article, "The Reforming
Fantasy: Recurrent Theme and Structure in American Studio Cartoons,"
in The Velvet Light Trap, no. 24 (Fall 1989), pp. 53-66.
