This is a last-minute call for papers for a panel to be submitted to the
Society for Cinema Studies Conference (March 3-6, 1994, Syracuse, NY)
and a final call for papers for a panel in the Eighth International
General Conference on Medievalism (September 22-25, 1993, Leeds,
England). All submissions are due May 17, 1993.

<Medievalistic Films or Modernized Medievalia>

I am looking for papers that explore one of the following:
1.adaptation of medieval works (such as "Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight," "The Canterbury
Tales," the legend of Robin Hood, or the legend
                of King Arthur),
2.films set in the Middle Ages (such as "Conan the Barbarian"),
3.films set in current or futuristic settings, yet extend or allude
to medieval history, narratives, or values (such as "The
Natural" or "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade").

The Society for Cinema Studies Panel will emphasize cinematic technique
and theory, while the International General Conference on Medievalsim
will address both cinematic/modern and literary/medieval aspects.

PLEASE INDICATE WHICH CONFERENCE PANEL YOU WISH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR, IF
YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE. Abstracts or papers should be sent by MAY 17,
1993 to:
