Ghosts in the Media

Despite the anti-metaphysical horizon of postmodern theory, swarms of
spirits appear in the popular media today. This panel will investigate such
sites and sightings to consider whether a new spirituality (or psyche-ology)
is haunting our millennial materialism and post-Enlightenment Geist through
the virtual realities of film, TV, and internet. Proposals are invited that
directly analyze the ghosts in the machinery of these media--or inspect the
spectres of specific characters and works.
