Need any critical reviews of Tolkin's "The Player", both novel and film, as
relates to adaption to screen. Also exploring the theme of the "reality" of
making a killing at the box office, i.e., doing a happy ending vs. unhappy
ending because that's what the audience really wants. Does anyone know German?
Does the name "Gudmundsdottir" have a translation? In the novel, June's name is
"Mercator".

How much of Tim Robbins' portrayal as Griffin Mill is true? Are movie execs as
bland and colorless as Altman would have us believe? Has the focus of movies
shifted since "The Player" came out, (1992) in terms of "the reality"
(satisfying demographics)?
