Stephanie Helgesen inquires about a public television series produced
in one of the Carolinas fifteen years ago. The series was "Cinematic
Eye," produced by the South Carolina ETV Network and hosted by my
former colleague here at the University of South Carolina, Benjamin
Dunlap. (He is now at Wofford College in Spartanburg SC). The ETV
Network is selling tapes of each of four of the films for $69.95 or
$250 for the set. The films are The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari ,M,
Torment, and The Battleship Potemkin. A second series showed Beauty
and the Beast, Rules of the Game, et al. but doesn't seem to be
available for sale. Further inquiries can be made by phoning SCETV
at (803) 737-3441.
