MIT faculty present a series of Summer Programs designed to help
professionals keep pace with developments in their fields. One such
program this year is:

30.17s: Ninja Turtles, the Macho King and Madonna's Navel: Taking Popular
Culture Seriously--presented by SCREEN-L's own Henry Jenkins.

Date: 6-10 June 1994
Tuition: $1,050

This seminar is designed for teachers who hope to address issues of popular
culture in their classrooms, for scholars who want a good overview of basic
work in Cultural Studies, and for laypersons who desire a better grasp of
the many roles that popular culture plays in our everyday lives. Sessions
will combine screenings and close examinations of specific works, genre and
performers with an overview of broader theoretical questions concerning the
cultural status, ideology, audience and aesthetics of popular culture.
