For all the midwestern members of the list, I wanted to open an
invitation to attend the Fiske Matters Conference in Madison WI next
week, June 11-12, a retrospective look at John Fiske's contributions
to media & cultural studies 10 years after his retirement. See the
entire schedule at
http://fiskematters.com/ConferenceInfo/program/program.html , but note
that the three keynotes are open to the public without registering for
the conference:

Friday June, 11, 4:30-5:30
John Fiske, "The Rise of the Individual in Early Modern Europe:
Cultural Studies Tangles with Antiques"

Friday June 11, 5:30-6:30
Henry Jenkins, "'Technostruggles' Revisited: Participation,
Resistance, Digital Media and Cultural Politics"

Saturday June 12, 5:30-6:30
Herman Gray, "Incitement to Visibility and the Politics of Recognition"

In addition to these public keynotes, there will be over 30
presentations during the conference, open to anyone who registers for
the conference at http://fiskematters.com/Registration/ .

Please spread the word, and I hope to see many of you in Madison next week!

-Jason Mittell, on behalf of the Fiske Matters conference coordinating committee
