I have been asked by a professor here on the TWU campus, Dr, John Calabrese
find those university or special libraries in California which specialize in
film and film history.

He has an interest in these collections on the West Coast because he plans on
visiting. He is interested in the collections he can find to help him with
his new course: Film Noir--American Style 1940-1958. He is familiar with the
collections at USC and UC Berkeley.

I'd like to invite all of those who have any knowledge about the existence of
these libraries or collections of film in California to respond to me
personally at the e-mail address below. In addition, I'm looking for
confirmation of what is maybe called The Film Institute or The American Film
Institute in Los Angeles or in the Los Angeles area. My question is: what is
this institute's purpose? Is it a school, a museum, etc?

Any reponse to the above would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
