Society for Cinema and Media Studies 2012 Conference

Proposed Panel : Girls' and Women's Media Production

This panel will explore girls' and women's production of all types of 
media (film, TV, music, print, Internet) in youth cultures, 
alternative media, and the media industries.  Historical perspectives 
are encouraged.

Possible paper topics include:

- equipment/technology
- training and mentoring
- employment and advancement
- distribution
- exhibition practices
- aesthetics/formal strategies
- activism and politics
- play and performance
- identity and community
- professional organizations

Please send a 250-word abstract with at least 5 references and a 
brief biographical note to Mary Celeste Kearney 
<[log in to unmask]> by August 8, 2011.  (Text pasted into the 
body of an email is preferred over an attached Word document.) 
Selections for the panel will be made by August 15, 2011.
