Susan's mom's mystery movie is ONE WAY PASSAGE (1932), directed by Tay
Garnett for Warner Bros. The leads are Kay Francis and William Powell. The
film won an Oscar for Robert Lord's original story, and was remade in 1940
with Merle Oberon and George Brent as 'TIL WE MEET AGAIN. Both versions
are shown every once in a while on Turner Classic Movies.

Your mom is not alone; ONE WAY PASSAGE is one of my favorites, too.
