JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS
especially encourages minority candidates to apply for an
anticipated tenure-track assistant professor position. While a
Ph.D. in communication is preferred, advanced Ph.D. candidates
including those from allied fields will be considered. Areas of
specialization are open; preference may be given to individuals
with teaching and research interests in the areas of media history,
media economics, political communication, international
telecommunications, broadcast writing and production,
quantitative methods and/or new technologies. Duties include
teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the person's area
of specialization, serving on dissertation and thesis committees,
research activity and service. Subject to the availability of
funding, the position will begin August, 1992. The successful
candidate will have the opportunity to work with colleagues in a
variety of inter-disciplinary programs including Women's Studies
and Ethnic Studies and to participate in teaching courses to meet
the University's new general education requirement in Cultural
Diversity.
BGSU is a residential campus located 20 minutes south of Toledo
and an hour south of Ann Arbor/Detroit with 17,000 students and
15 doctoral programs, including mass communication. The
university has made a commitment to the enhancement of graduate
education as one of its goals, and the Department of
Telecommunications is a beneficiary of that effort. Salary,
