I recommend the following books for anyone interested in South African Cinema:

Tomaselli, Keyan. The Cinema of Apartheid: Race and Class in South
African Film. Great Britain, 1989. ISBN 0-947024-27-1

Botha, M & Van Aswegen, A. Images of South Africa: The Rise of
Alternative Cinema. HSRC (SA) 1992 ISBN 0 7969 1149 5

Blignaut, J. & Botha, M. Movies, Moguls & Mavericks: South African
Cinema 1979 - 1991. Showdata 1992. ISBN 0-620-16529-4

BTW, Showdata will soon have a web page with info on SA Cinema,
locations, resources, etc, - I will post details as soon as I get it.

If you would like to acquire a personal copy of any of these books, drop
me some email, they are all still in print and available in South Africa.
