I met Carter several years ago in New York.  He was active on the
alternative music scene, and composed music for a number of plays and
theater pieces in New York, as well as films (including one of the
*Psycho*'s--#88?).  You might try looking through the very comprehensive New
York Times index for the past 10 years or so.  He might be listed in some
music reviews.
