Lecturer ­ Two Positions
(Film and Media Studies)

SCHOOL OF LANGUAGE LITERATURE AND PERFORMING ARTS

Applications are invited for the two lectureships in Film and Media Studies,
located in the Department of Communication Studies, within the School of
Language, Literature & Performing Arts.

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant area, and expertise in critical
theory, film and media theory, and two or more of the following: visual
culture, Australasian film and media, film and media history, television
studies and digital culture. Expertise in any of the areas of the social
studies of science and technology, postcolonial theory, gender theory and
queer theory would be an advantage.

Applicants should have an active research profile and a record of successful
teaching across the above areas, and the ability to work in an
interdisciplinary programme.

Duties will include the teaching of courses at all levels, including
postgraduate supervision.

Applicants should include with the documents requested below a letter
addressing the selection criteria as well as documentary evidence of
teaching evaluation.

The salary range for a Lecturer is $46,350 to $57,165 per annum. Appointment
will be made at an appropriate step in this range depending on
qualifications and experience.  It is hoped that the successful applicant
will be able to assume responsibilities on 1 January 2001.

Lecturer
(Communication Studies)

SCHOOL OF LANGUAGE LITERATURE AND PERFORMING ARTS

Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in Communication
Studies, located in the Department of Communication Studies, within the
School of Language, Literature & Performing Arts.

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant area, and expertise in the areas
of communication studies, critical theory, cross-cultural and interpersonal
communication, and pragmatics. In addition, expertise in media studies would
be an advantage.  

Applicants should have a research profile and a strong teaching record
across the above areas, as well as evidence of successful honours and
postgraduate supervision; experience of subject and course development in
communication studies; and a demonstrated ability to work in an
interdisciplinary programme.

Duties will include the teaching of courses at all levels, including
postgraduate supervision.  Proven ability in lecturing to large
undergraduate classes is essential. The successful candidate would also be
expected to contribute to the departmentıs proposed MA in Applied
Linguistics.
