These 3 books may be helpful. The second two focus
on French films remade by Hollywood, but the first
has films from several different European countries.

Jennifer Forrest and Leonard R. Koos, eds. Dead Ringers:
The Remake in Theory and Practice

Lucy Mazdon, Encore Hollywood

Carolyn A. Durham, Double Takes: Culture and Gender
in French Film and their American Remakes

Good luck,

Subject: hollywood remakes

I have a student who is working on hollywood's remaking of
Abre los Ojos as Vanilla Sky but is having difficulty
finding useful literature. This is rather outside my field
and I wonder whether anyone can suggest any useful
materials on Hollywood remakes of films from different
countries. I seem to recall seeing some writing a few years
back on The Vanishing but can't remember where.

Thanks in advance
