The School of Music, Humanities and Media at the University of Huddersfield is pleased to offer up to 23 competitive fee waiver opportunities for research degree candidates (MA by Research and PhD) applying for September 2021 and January 2022 entry.

We positively encourage applications from groups under-represented in postgraduate research, including (but not limited to) BAME candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates, candidates with disabilities, women, applicants with caring responsibilities, and care leavers.

Communications, Cultural and Media Studies at the University of Huddersfield is an internationally-recognised centre for research in participatory culture and digital media platforms, with particular research strengths in media users, audiences and fans; media industries and cultural production; politics, gender and identity. We are home to world-leading experts who research across the internet, social media, film, television, gaming, music and journalism. We lead the Centre for Participatory Culture, the only research centre in the world dedicated specifically to the analysis of all forms of participatory culture and the shifting boundaries between media industries and users.

We particularly welcome applicants interested in researching:
-	Screen media, digital culture, participatory culture, audiences and fandom
-	Issues of discoverability and routes to content from an industrial, technological, cultural or audience perspective, including the role of platforms, data and algorithms.

More information is available on our website (https://research.hud.ac.uk/research-degrees/researchscholarships/mhmscholarships/). If you would like to discuss your application or get advice on developing a research proposal contact Professor Catherine Johnson ([log in to unmask]).
