Dorothy Nelkin and Susan Lindee's book _The DNA Mystique_ (New York:
Freeman, 1995) does a good job outlining several films, television
programs, comic books and fictional novels that incorporate the idea of
genetic essentialism.

Martin Pernick's book _The Black Stork: Eugenics and the Death of
“Defective” Babies in American Medicine and Motion Pictures Since 1915_
(Oxford: Oxford UP, 1996) covers genes and behavior for films mostly
before 1945.
