Ajijic Festival Internacional de Cine

A Division of Centro Ajijic de Belles Artes A.C.

SMALL HISTORIC VILLAGE IN CENTRAL MEXICO TO LAUNCH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

James E. Lloyd, President of the Ajijic Film Festival Exploratory
Committee, announced today that the committee has voted unanimously to
launch the 1st Ajijic Festival Internacional de Cine on Friday, November
5th, 1999.

"While the emphasis of the first festival," according to Lloyd, "will be on
new and yet-to be-discovered directors, actors, screen writers and
producers, we encourage all filmmakers and production companies with a
desire to showcase their work to submit feature films, short subjects,
including animation, and documentaries.

"Because there are so very many talented filmmakers, especially students,
around the world and a limited number of venues where their work can be
shown, the Ajijic Festival Internacional de Cine welcomes all.

"While there will of course be prizes, the Ajijic Festival Internacional de
Cine is not about winning. Rather, it is about the celebration, discovery
and recognition of talent.

"In addition, we will provide a forum where works in progress, including
screenplays, can be presented. However, for this category, we will require
that one of the principals associated with the film or screenplay be present."

Ajijic, (Ah-he-heek), just 40 minutes from Guadalajara's Miguel Hidalgo
International Airport, is a 472 years old fishing village on the north
shore of Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest lake. This village of narrow
cobblestone streets has been a haven and refuge for artists and writers
from North and South American and Europeans since the 1920's.

It is also renowned for its near-perfect climate and the area is known
world-wide as "Land Of The Eternal Spring."

For more information on Ajijic and the Festival, look at the web site:

Members of the Exploratory Committee, who will also serve on the Festival's
Board oof Directors, include: Isabel Fuente, Xill Fessenden, Norman Burton,
Marcela Gutierrez‚, Harvey Bliss, Sebastian Romero, Robin Lawrason,
Tod Jonson and Norine Rose.

Film entries must be submitted on videotape, NTSC Format, with English
sub-titles and screenplays in English. The deadline for entries to be
received is September 1st. Allow one month for delivery by post. Ship all
entries to:

Centro Ajijic de Belles Artes A.C., Colon 43, 45920 Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico
