As the thread winds down, I'd like to post a final note of thanks to all those
who have responded to my inquiry about snuff, both directly and through the
list.  The discussion has been illuminating and useful -- to me, at least! --
and I've also appreciated the references to existing material on the subject.
 
In the event that my interest jells into a formal project of one kind or
another, I will acknowledge the help and share the results with those who
have asked me to do so.
