Hi Prof. Groening. I would recommend your student search a database like Business Source Complete to find results from trade industry publications as well as industry reports. The database includes "Broadcasting & Cable" which would likely have tracked on this aspect of the industry, as well as more publications more specific to the video retail market. For example, I found the attached article in Video Store Magazine which has a graph of historical DVD prices from 1997-2004.

Here is another citation from Billboard that discusses the growth in the DVD market. The abstract is below, but I don't have a pdf to share.
