Just a quick comment: if the directors in question played on the
perceived weakness of Clinton as an inept commander-in-chief, he
certainly didn't get the point (or is naive enough to believe he could
somehow capitalize on this martial depiction of the officeholder);
Clinten loved Independence Day and supported the makers of Air Force One
considerably, as Newsweek reports in its article on the latter movie
(shortly before the film was released).
