*** Summer Program in Chinese Film History and Criticism ***

(FOLLOWED BY NOTE TO CINEMA INSTRUCTORS)

The Summer Program in Chinese Film History and Criticism will be hosted for
the fifth time at the Beijing Film Academy on June 27 - July 24, 2011.
Students worldwide are welcome to the program, administered through the
University of Washington. The program is especially well suited for
upper-level undergraduates who intend to continue their studies in Chinese
cinema, and for graduate students and professors who plan to teach courses
involving films. 12 quarter credits are transferable to other institutions.
No knowledge of Chinese is required.

The courses will be taught by professors from outside Asia (including Ackbar
Abbas, Chris Berry, and Yomi Braester) and a variety of faculty from the
Beijing Film Academy. The program also includes meetings with filmmakers.
The program cost (including tuition and lodging, but not airfare) is $3,300
+ registration fee. The application deadline is February 15.

FOR CINEMA INSTRUCTORS:

Please let your students and colleagues know about this opportunity! The
program has always benefitted from having students from many institutions,
from undergrads to graduate students and professors.

I will be grateful if you would print the program flyer and post it in
appropriate places. The flyer can be downloaded at
http://faculty.washington.edu/yomi/bfa2011.pdf.

Many thanks, Yomi
