RE: the deaf in/and films, an important book (which incidentally lists
about 100 films with deaf characters and/or films related to deafness or
deaf individuals in just about any way) is HOLLYWOOD SPEAKS: DEAFNESS AND
THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, by John S. Schuchman, out of Gallaudet Univ.
If you can't find it, try calling the main phone # at GU: 202-651-5000.

There are lots out there (TOMMY, LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR, THE TINGLER, THE
MAN WHO PLAYED GOD, POCKET FULL OF MIRACLES, HARRY IN YOUR POCKET,
NASHVILLE, VOICES, AMY, and the list goes on).

Schuchman also offers a list of TV series and episodes that deal with
deafness or deaf characters or script-writers, etc.

It's hardcover, about $30, I think. GOod luck!
