The possibilities are endless, but a couple that spring to mind are LITTLE
BIG MAN (a nice counter to DANCES WITH WOLVES), SQUANTO (for lots of reasons
good and bad), LAST OF THE MOHICANS (all four or five versions, particularly
the 1920 silent and the recent Daniel-Day Lewis ones), CHEYENNE AUTUMN, and
for a real seventies feel try JEREMIAH JOHNSON, A MAN CALLED HORSE and
SOLDIER BLUE.  Of course, all of these are interested in the white man's
encounter with the Native Americans and aren't all that interested in the
Native Americans themselves.  For films focusing mostly on the Native
American experience, the well is pretty dry.  Even BLACK ROBE is really
about the priest and not the natives.
