Not so much a "documentary" as a personal essay is Orson Welles' F FOR FAKE,
which intertwines his career with the Clifford Irving/Howard Hughes fake
autobiography affair, among many other things.
 
Also, I don't recall anyone mentioning the class Capra propaganda WHY WE FIGHT
series, especially the opening, PRELUDE TO WAR.
