Position available at Rice University, Houston, Texas.

TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ARAB STUDIES

Rice University invites applications and nominations for a
tenure-track
position in Arab Studies. The specific field is open but candidates
should be grounded in one of the humanities disciplines (e.g. art,
history, literature, philosophy, religion, or popular culture).
Competence in Arabic is mandatory. The successful candidate will help
shape the future of an expanding Arab Studies Program. The
appointment will be at the rank of assistant professor and we welcome
applications from recent Ph.D.s and advanced junior candidates, as
well as from ABDs who will have completed all requirements for the
Ph.D. by the time of appointment (01 July 1997). Candidates should
send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, three letters of
recommendation, and a writing sample by October 15, 1996 to: Chair,
Arab Studies Search Committee, Rice University, c/o Dean of Humanities
(MS-33), 6100 Main Street, Houston, TX 77005-1892, U.S.A.
