A strong vote against allowing this list to be accessed via a Usenet news group
 
I have experience with some of the news groups, and the level of discussion is
not of the high quality here on screen-l.  Even those few news groups which are
good will occasionally get a few people on them who ruin it for everyone.  This
list would degenerate dramatically, and I would be forced to unsubscribe.  As a
film/TV production student, I have received considerable benefit from this list
and would miss the access to information and opinions of many professors in
this field.
