We figured you might be interested in the following information regarding
the AFI's launch of a site devoted to director, Robert Wise.

The American Film Institute (AFI) has launched the first Internet site
dedicated to Robert Wise, the four-time Oscar winning director and producer
of THE SOUND OF MUSIC and WEST SIDE STORY, in honor of his receiving the
prestigious 26th AFI Life Achievement Award. Wise, whose career spans six
decades and more than 50 films, will receive the AFI honor at a gala
tribute this Thursday, February 19th.

The new web site, titled "Robert Wise: American Filmmaker," is located at
<www.afionline.org/wise>.

The site is a decade-by-decade walk through of his career, focusing mainly
on his work as a director (Wise also produced many of his films and was
nominated for an Oscar in 1941 for his editing on CITIZEN KANE). In
addition to a synopsis and video clip from each film, the site includes a
collection of never-before-seen photos, audio clips, cast lists, technical
details, storyboards, interviews with Wise, quotes and anecdotes about each
film, promotional movie posters and photos of various props. AFI worked
directly with Wise on the construction of this site and used its own
extensive archival materials.

In addition, AFI will present live web coverage of events from the tribute
beginning at 5 p.m. (PST) that evening, including celebrity arrivals, the
pre-event press conference and scenes from the award show and after-party.
Online fans will also be able to send a message to Wise and share opinions
and memories of his work. The live coverage of the AFI tribute will be
located at <www.afionline.org/wise/live>.
