Don't overlook KALIFORNIA, which I just saw and which I think has been
seriously underrated. It may be particularly interesting for the way in which
the crime "couple" (though the Juliette Lewis character doesn't really
participate in the crimes) is mirrored by an artsy yuppie couple w/ a kind of
middle-class fascination for violence as frisson. It's one of those films
that's at once critical and symptomatic, and on an important issue, I think,
and it interestingly implicates its audience.
