I am curious if anyone knows how and when David O. Selznick decided to use
shots of the shooting script of A STAR IS BORN to frame the action of the
1937 film. There is no mention of this device in the *actual* shooting
script that Selznick gave to Fredric March at the premier and Rudy Behlmer's
compilation of Selznick's memos doesn't mention it either. It would seem
that the idea of the frame was a late addition, but I wonder if that can
be confirmed.
