May I be so immodest to recommend my article on interethnic male
bonding?

Christopher Ames, "Restoring the Black Man's Lethal Weapon: Race and
Sexuality in Contemporary Cop Films" _Journal of Popular Film and
Television_ (20:3) Fall 1992, 52-60.

This article discusses several of the films Nick Chapman expressed an
interest in: Lethal Weapon I-III, Die Hard and Shoot to Kill.

Also, I would recommend Peter Lehman's book on masculinity in film,
_Running Scared_ (Temple Press)
