ATTENTION FILM TEACHERS AND GRADUATE STUDENTS:

The deadline for the Summer Program in Chinese Film History and Criticism is
approaching. The program is especially well suited for upper-level
undergraduates who intend to continue their studies in Chinese cinema, and
graduate students and professors who plan to teach courses involving Chinese
films. Please distribute the information to students, colleagues, and email
lists.

The Summer Program in Chinese Film History and Criticism is hosted at the
Beijing Film Academy on July 2-29, 2007. 12 quarter credits are earned at
the University of Washington and are transferable to other institutions. No
knowledge of Chinese is required.

The courses will be taught by at least six professors, including three
professors from outside Asia (Chris Berry, Yomi Braester, and James Tweedie)
and three faculty members of the Beijing Film Academy. The program also
includes meetings with filmmakers (last year's guest speakers included,
among others, Jia Zhangke, Tian Zhuangzhuang, Zhang Yuan, and Wang Chao).
The program cost is $2,900 + registration fee.

Please visit our web site at http://faculty.washington.edu/yomi/bfa for
further details on the curriculum, application procedures, and financial
aid.

The application deadline is March 19. Applicants who are unsure if their
application material will arrive on time, or who have any other questions,
are encouraged to contact the program director, Yomi Braester, by email:
