Although it's a bit outdated, Todd Gitlin wrote a great book in 1987 called
Inside Prime Time. It's a good look at the major networks, how they make
decisions about programming, and how they run in general. Don't know if
this is recent enough for you, but I can't think of a newer book that does a
better job. Anybody know of one? I'd like to know as well.
