>Pete Tombs's _Mondo Macabro_ has several sections on Bollywood cinema.
Not to be too picky but much of the Indian material in Tombs' book is on
Indian films outside Bollywood: the Ramsays and related, particularly from
Southern India (also the home of the Indian porn industry; screenings at 9
AM!). Still this is a fascinating book, especially if you're lucky enough
to actually see such oddities as the Turkish "Star Trek."
There are several serious critical works on Indian films published in the
US though the only title that I have access to right now is the new revised
edition of "The Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema." In the UK there should be
even better sources; check with the BFI or the Asian Film Library.
