Subject: Anthology Invitation, please forward (fwd)

>We are in the process of putting together an anthology of new essays on
>feminism, history, and visual culture. Essentially, our project will
>interrogate the boundaries and intersections of feminism and
>film/television/new media histories. We hope to open a conversation amongst
>historians, critics, and theorists about these disciplines and their role in
>defining or informing one another. To that end, we welcome any and all
>critical methodologies in this anthology: e.g., empirical and archival-based
>approaches, cognitive studies, psychoanalysis, reception studies,
>autobiography, phenomenology, cultural studies. The goal of this
>collection is bring together a diverse and international group of scholars
>to examine a broad range of issues on this topic.
>
>Contributions may be organized around 1) histories of the intersections
>between feminism and the writing of visual culture history; 2) questions of
>method (including debates about historical evidence; theoretical engagements
>with the limits or boundaries of historical method, hermeneutics of visual
>culture history, or any combination therein); 3) particular case studies
>illustrating these larger issues. Contributors may examine mainstream,
>independent, experimental work or intersections within these categories.
>
>We hope you will consider contributing an essay to this anthology. We are
>requesting proposals (approximately 250-500 words) from contributors by
>March 15, 2000 and a final draft of essays by August 1, 2000 (lengths of
>final essay can be variable, 15-30 pages). Please contact either of us if
>you have any questions regarding the project.
