Call for Submissions: The Popular Communication Division of the 49th Annual
Conference of the International Communication Association, May 27-31,
1999, San Francisco, California, USA

The Popular Communication Division of the International Communication
Association supports research that aims to further our understanding of
popular culture and popular communication.

Drawing from a variety of theoretical approaches, the division is committed
to scholarship that explores a wide range of artifacts, processes, effects,
and meanings associated with the shaping of popular culture. Members are
interested in interpretive and critical research that regards popular
cultural phenomena as a locus from which to generate useful and provocative
questions about everyday life. The division welcomes papers that use a
commitment to excellence in addressing such phenomena at all levels of
analysis.
