Probly am overstating the obvious, but the thoughtful replies here and
elsewhere indicate how cinema aesthetics, creativity and fortunes of the
auteur, so forth are inextricably articulated with contemporary industry
conditions and audience's horizon of reception

role of critics in cinema in cinema and elsewhere would not rate so high
altho we would like to believe otherwise (except in rare instances such as
Philip Roth's singlehanded deconstruction of author of BY LOVE POSSESSED
{James Gould Cozzens?}.

again very interesting thread hr greenberg md endit
