Thousands do, many of whom were at ShowBiz Expo in LA last
weekend. Of the vendors present at the show, the competitors for
scheduling/breakdown appear to be Movie Magic and TurboAD. They
are competitive in features, but in general I would say the
Screenplay Systems software requires much more powerful hardware
to function productively. It is also has a proprietary mouse-
intensive interface, so if you're a good typist, be prepared for
lots of wrist strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and generally
slower throughput. However, while the Screenplay Systems programs
run IDENTICALLY on PCs and Macs, TurboAd is a DOS product.

As for screenplay processors, Screenplay Systems has released a
long-overdue new version of Scriptor, but despite their threats
two years ago to produce a combined word/screenplay processor,
Scriptor remains a formatter. You do your work in another
package, then run it through Scriptor.

Those who, like me, prefer to work within one package, were able
to preview the Windows version of Movie Master and another
package now in beta test. Both are screenplay processors ONLY,
and run much faster than using macros within a word processor or
using Scriptor to format WP files.

For a comprehensive list of exhibitors at ShowBiz Expo, call
their LA office and ask for details. They also have an East Coast
show coming up, I believe.
