FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY, Department of Communication, is seeking an
Assistant Professor, tenure track, in New Media Production, to teach
courses in the Department’s newly established BA in Multimedia Studies,
which includes sequences in Film & Video Studies and Multimedia
Journalism.  The Department seeks a scholar of digital art and new
media practice with expertise in new media as art and communication.
Ideal candidates will cross media platforms and have experience in
creating and analyzing multimedia texts.  Candidates must be able to
apply narrative theory to new media, be skilled in hypertext, and offer
instruction in the integration of text, image and audio.  Areas of
creative production and/or research may include photojournalism,
digital art and technology, vision and imaging technologies, virtual
environments, the impact of new technologies on social experience, and
the use of new media as expressive tool and information pathway.
Applicants should possess practical skills in more than one of the
following media platforms: digital photography, computer-based imaging
technologies, web and graphic design, and multimedia authoring.
Effective date of employment: August 2003.  Salary: $39,000 minimum.
MFA or Ph.D. required; preference will go to candidates with active
exhibition history and/or publications as well as teaching experience.
